Saint Francis is one of the most well known and well loved Saints of them all.  He has captured the imaginations of Catholics and those of many other faith traditions as well.  His simple faith, his obedience to God, his love for all creation ... those are the qualities that have endeared him to so many.  May we imitate the gentleness, respect and love of Francis of Assisi!

Follow these links to learn more about Saint Francis.  We at Holy Family Parish in Arcadia, Wisconsin had a blessing of pets on the Feast of Saint Francis.  It was be held at 2:45 P.M. on Friday, 04 October in the Arcadia Catholic School "barking lot!"  Click here for pics!

Some of us will visit Assisi, the home of Francis and Clare, on our Pilgrimage this November.  I'll be sure to add some photos when I return!

Prayer of Saint Francis

   Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that
I may not so much seek to be
consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive---
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are
born to eternal life.  Amen.
